You can apply for a grant if :
- You live in Scotland
- You are over eighteen
- You are a member of the local community who lives in
or is familiar with the area
- You do not possess a professional qualification in the
built or natural environment
What can be funded?
- 100% of project costs
- Training
- Courses
- Equipment for the life of the project
- The hire of equipment and venue spaces
- Office costs - postage, telephone, stationery etc.
- Consumables - exhibition boards, materials, photographic
film and print
- Services - printing of questionnaires, leaflets and
reports, graphic services, specialist advice
- Monitoring and final report on project
- Travel within the UK
- Accommodation
- Refreshments
What conditions apply?
It is not possible to apply for a RIAS Millennium Award
if you have already received an Award from another Millennium
Award Scheme.
We cannot make awards to formally organised groups.
Award projects should be new initiatives and should not
be part of an on-going or existing programme or project,
related to your work or activities you are already involved
in
The Millennium Commission will not part fund projects
under the scheme, and any Award activities should be above
and beyond any paid role held by the applicant.
Awards will not be available to support a significant
level of capital expenditure.
Foreign travel will not normally be funded.
The Assessment Criteria will include:
- Personal benefit to the applicant - will you be learning
something new or gaining new experiences?
- Evidence of community interest and support.
- Community benefit through the project's contribution
to social inclusion and empowerment and the impact and
tangible benefits to the community
- Area benefit in terms of impact and change to the wider
area.
- Wider benefit in terms of the project being reproduced
elsewhere
- Originality of delivery in terms of local communication,
gaining support, and achieving community benefit.
- Viability of project in terms of programming, time and
cost.
You will receive support in the form of:
- An introductory seminar based at, The Lighthouse, Glasgow
- A local architect or other environment professional
to act as a mentor and guide you through your project
- A seminar will be organised to allow you to exchange
ideas and learn from other Award recipients on the Scheme
- Your completed work will be exhibited at both the RIAS,
Edinburgh and The Lighthouse, Glasgow in 2004
